If you missed the Melrose Street Fair this year, be sure to watch for it next year so you won't miss out on the fun and the opportunity to socialize with your neighbors, not only from our neighborhood, but the surrounding neighborhoods. Here is a report from a neighbor who attended the event.
Per AJ, The street fair was like a party. Neighbors stopped by & put a sticker on their house on our neighborhood map. Lisa Hubbard & Officer Stevens have honorary places on our map as their "house." Community people stopped by, and Lisa Hubbard threw beads at us. Even Dave the cashier from the Fry's grocery store stopped by as he lives on the other side of 15th. All the other surrounding neighborhood association booths also greeted him since they shop there, too. He was like a rock star. I saw breeds & breeds of dogs, purebreds & mutts. We gave out milk bones to the dogs & candy to the kids. Three people who stopped by were looking in our neighborhood for houses; one person reminisced about his childhood home in our 'hood. Each of us volunteers also walked around to see the artists' wares & chat with community-service booth people. The vintage record cover art booth was a hit. You may even see Chris Y. sporting his Blues Brothers satchel with his coordinating Blues Brothers t-shirt. I must add that the weather was perfect. Sign me up for NEXT year.
